About Us ...

David Cronin, born in San Francisco, started performing at age 16. In the mid ‘70s, he was MC of the unique and wildly successful “invitational” open mics at La Val’s Subterranean, half a block from the UC Berkeley campus. The musical quality of these shows was exceptional, and featured artists who have gone on to national recognition. In 1977, David moved to Mendocino County, and performed solo and in groups. His band, The Jazz Bums, played a wildly eclectic mix of originals and covers. For a number of years he taught music in public and private schools, and also classes on spoken word performance (storytelling and poetry). After moving back to the Bay Area, David met Jami, and they began a personal and musical journey. Over the years, David has studied with some of the finest guitarists, including Alex DeGrassi, Ed Gerhard, and Peppino D’Agostino. David’s instrumental compositions, often performed solo on Martin D12-20 twelve-string guitar, add to the duo’s live shows. The music of Fender-Cronin has evolved, creating special sounds, following the spirit of song and guitar.

Jami Fender-Cronin has been immersed in the world of theater arts all her life. She began playing guitar and writing songs at age nine. She studied voice with renowned teacher Judy Davis, whose students included diverse talents such as Barbra Streisand, Randy Jackson (musician/American Idol host), Mary Martin (Peter Pan on Broadway NY), and Eddie Money. Jami studied at the Young Conservatory for Theater Arts (ACT) in San Francisco, and has performed in many groups and major productions. She has been a teacher and choreographer of ballet and jazz dance for thirty years. Musical influences include vocal masters such as Billy Holiday, Bessie Smith, Sarah Vaughn, and contemporaries such as Bonnie Raitt and Stevie Nicks, but Jami’s direction has always been to experience her own unique voice. Her guitar skills come from years of performance, and exposure to and study with some of the finest guitarists, including Ed Gerhard, John Knowles, Tommy Emmanuel, Jody Fisher, William Coulter, Nina Gerber, Jack Eskridge, and Peppino D’Agostino, who also wrote some of Jami’s acoustic leads for the CDs. Jami’s love of music, and life, shines through when she sings.
